Street Child launched the first batch of family business grants and training packages in Monrovia this month.
The project will run in a similar way to our Family Business Scheme in Sierra Leone, designed to help the families of reunified street children achieve a more reliable income and a sustainable environment for the child's upbringing.
Street Child is now Supporting 211 families with business training and grants. Big congratulations to our team at Street Child of Liberia for this positive step forward with our Liberian street children project.
You can read an article on the launch of our Liberia Family Business Scheme in the Daily Observer, Liberia's premier newspaper.
We're also delighted to announce the enrollment of our first teachers in Liberian teacher training courses. A total of twelve teachers began their teacher training programme this week in Grand Bassa County. This marks the launch in Liberia of the same rural schools model that has been so successful in remote communities across Sierra Leone.
