Teaching placements in Makeni
This placement would be a minimum of one school term.
Education is a core feature of SCoSL’s work with the children attending different schools around Makeni.
Sierra Leone suffers from a chronic shortage of capable teachers. 80 to a class is not uncommon at all. Sometimes more. For those keen and able to commit to a minimum of a term, a vastly worthwhile contribution would be to volunteer as a teacher in one of the school’s affiliated to our project. And then hopefully help the project out on an ad hoc basis – after school hours, at week-ends or for special events for example.
Accommodation would be arranged in town either with other volunteers or a family associated with the project.
