Social workers can help girls with teen pregnancy. Often, as soon as a girl is pregnant she will not have the hope to go back to school. Through social support we can help these girls realise their potential and this can encourage them get back to school.
Poverty is the main barrier to girls’ education. Some girls want to go to school but if they have no one to support them they cannot go – you will ask them “why aren’t you going to school?” and they will say “I don’t have the uniform; I don’t have anyone to pay for me.”
But through social support we can help them not to lose sight of the importance of education and hopefully they can continue to learn.
