Street Child Founder and CEO, Tom Dannatt, is currently undertaking a rapid assessment mission in Sierra Leone.
His main mission on the trip is to travel to Kailahun in the East of the country where Ebola first entered Sierra Leone, including the villages that were Sierra Leone’s ‘Ebola ground zero’. Tom will be assessing the immediate needs of children in the District and the impact Street Child has already made.
Tom spent his first day visiting various stricken communities in Port Loko District, a District where Street Child has long had a major presence, but which is now one of the worst Ebola-affected parts of the country. He visited numerous beneficiaries and learnt of their heart-breaking stories, but also met some true local heroes who have saved their communities through a proactive response to Ebola.
