FIFTH BIRTHDAY EVENT IN KENSINGTON PALACE
On Friday 20th March, our Every Child in School appeal launched at Street Child’s fifth birthday event in Kensington Palace.
The launch was attended by charity supporters, including: Nick Hewer (BBC’s The Apprentice), who hosted proceedings; former head of the British Army and charity patron, General Lord Dannatt; and football legend, Gianluca Vialli. There was also an exclusive solo performance by singer/songwriter Sarah Harding.
The event was an unqualified success, with £135,000 being raised from the auction alone. All money raised will go towards our aim of helping at least 5,000 of the world’s most vulnerable children gain the chance to go to school. What’s more, our founder Tom Dannatt announced the exciting news that the UK government has pledged to match all funds raised for the appeal pound for pound, setting the scene for what will be Street Child’s biggest appeal yet.
A huge thank you to all of our charity supporters for making the launch what was undoubtedly a night to remember, and to all who contributed or pledged on the night – it has given our Every Child in School appeal the best possible start.
