STREET CHILD OPENS FIRST TEMPORARY LEARNING CENTRE IN MAIDUGURI, NIGERIA
Today we opened the doors of our first-ever temporary learning centre (TLC) in Maiduguri Nigeria. Over 400 children have enrolled in our TLC in the capital of Borno, one of the worst conflict-impacted states in Northeast Nigeria.
In Borno state alone, three in five schools have been closed and 19,000 teachers have been displaced as a consequence of conflict, which is actively targeting education.
After fleeing their homes from conflict, these children and their families are living in temporary settlements and internal displacement camps. Our new temporary learning centre is giving them a chance to continue to go to school and have hope for a brighter future.
