Thank you Citydashers!!
Thank you for joining us at the Citydash for Street Child last weekend. We saw some great scheming, running and sneaking around the canals of East London!... we also saw some not so great tactics (call out to Andy who won the prize for being caught the most by guards!)...
We wanted to congratulate you and say massive thank you as the money raised from the game is enough to provide sustainable care of 4 children orphaned by Ebola in Sierra Leone and Liberia. Street Child is an organisation that usually empowers children by providing access to education and reuniting street-connected children with their families. Now however, every school in Sierra Leone and Liberia has been closed since June, and Street Child have adapted all programmes to respond to the devastating Ebola crisis that is currently gripping the region.
Right now Street Child is able to pledge support for 5,000 Ebola orphans, but according to our data, there are already 20,000 children left behind and destitute by Ebola and that number is growing every day. At Street Child, we know what needs to be done, and are working to help the most vulnerable to survive, get reunited with their closest living family, and eventually return to education with social support from the Street Child network.
As we mentioned on Saturday, we would love for you to get involved with Street Child and the Ebola Orphan Appeal and we have lots of events coming up just waiting for you. To find out more including Christmas Carols at the Tower of London and abseiling in the Olympic Park, please visit our website.
There are less than two days to buy tickets to our main event: the Ebola Benefit Ball on Saturday 29th November at the stunning HAC in the City. The ball will be hosted by Nick Hewer of The Apprentice, after a sparkling drinks reception surrounded by expert circus acts, you will be served an award-winning 3 course dinner, all wine is included and there will also feature a raffle and an auction of exclusive items, finishing with dancing until late. Once again, on behalf of all at Street Child and our sponsors Fire Hazard and Misfit, thank you all for your great Citydash effort! We hope you had a as much fun as we did and we hope to see you at the Benefit Ball next Saturday!
