Street Child was the first major agency to launch an appeal in the aftermath of last week’s shocking events and has been a leader in the humanitarian response ever since - distributing over 25,000 meals and other vital supplies every day since the disaster. Funds from this spectacular event will support Street Child’s continued efforts to help those worst affected rebuild their lives – in particular we are committed to ensuring that no child’s education ends as a result of this tragedy.
This disaster did not just ‘happen’ though. It shines a light on the fact that thousands of Sierra Leoneans live, in different ways, in hugely precarious situations in the country’s capital. Funds from this event will underpin Street Child’s vital wider work for children and their families right across Freetown’s poorest and most vulnerable communities – such as those still living in slum locations like Kroo Bay, also devastated by floods in 2015, and those living and working on the city’s rubbish dumps.
Please show your support for those affected by the mudslide disaster – and all children suffering in Freetown- by joining us this November.
